wHy ScUbA dIvInG?

I chose to do scuba diving for my research projectbecause I have always been interested in learning how to scuba dive. I thinkthat the experience would last a life time and I don’t think it would besomething someone would forget doing. Throughout the project I have beengathering and gaining information that would help someone become a betterexperienced diver. I learned that if someone wants to become a scuba diver, theyhave to undergo many training courses in order to become certified. A few thingspeople have to learn how to do is how to jump in the water, how to properly usedyou air tank, and how to handle your equipment and use each piece. I alsolearned what makes a good diving location; waters that are crystal clear withdifferent types of sea or ocean creatures. The location or destination for scubadivers plays a major role in someone’s diving experience. I found out later onin the project during my interview with Dr. Richard Champion that people whohave asthma should not try scuba diving. I learned that nine percent of scubadiving deaths come from asthmatic people. Overall, if I had the chance to learnhow to scuba dive I would take the opportunity and hope for the best.

An Adventure Can Change Everything

The article, “Into The Deep”, was an interesting article. It was about a man, St. Martin, whose motorcycle was stolen and dumped into a quarry and was found by a SCUBA instructor. St. Martin got a phone call a few months later from a man who said he had found his motorcycle in the quarry and that he could watch it being brought back to the surface. When St. Martin went to witness his bike being pulled out of the bottom of a quarry, the SCUBA instructor asked St. Martin if he wanted to take some SCUBA lessons. St. Martin explains that he likes to go SCUBA diving because “There’s always something different to look at and it does not require a lot of physical activities” (Wong 2). After reading this article I found out that many people can be influenced into doing something if it has made some kind of impact on their life.

St. Martin was influenced into going SCUBA diving because of the guy who had found his bike in the bottom of a quarry. I believe that if people want to see exotic fish or something unusual to the human eye, then they should go SCUBA diving. When you go SCUBA diving you are bound to see different types of fish that you do not normally see or other kinds of sea creatures. People may also want to take in SCUBA diving as a hobby to stay in some kind of shape and to find all different kinds of fish or lost items in the bottom of the ocean or quarry or whatever. Overall, I think that this article helps explain why some people would want to go SCUBA diving.
